About Me
My name is Megan Nelis, I am twenty-one years old and live in New Zealand.
Currently, I am studying Health Science, and also have two part-time jobs - one of which is in a hospital. I have a passion for health and wellness, and am a strong advocate for body acceptance, embracement, and appreciation.

I was diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa at age 16, and have been in recovery from this disorder ever since. Along this journey, I have been diagnosed with additional mental illnesses - including depression and several anxiety disorders.

I have spent a collective four and a half years actively seeking a wide range of treatments for my mental illnesses, across various institutions and with an array of medical professionals. I have experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Inpatient Treatment (both voluntary and involuntary), Maudsley/Family-Based Therapy (FBT), Occupational Therapy, Group Therapy, Nutrition Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), as well as assistance from medications.

Now, having been discharged from services for the past few months, I feel I am now in a stable place within my own recovery that I am able to share my experiences, advice, tips, tricks, (and everything in between) about my journey – where I have been, where I am now, and where I am going.

The intention of this blog is to share what I have to say on a variety of topics and issues including, but not limited to:
-
Eating disorders – food choices, inpatient and outpatient treatment, quasi-recovery, exercise, behaviours
-
Other mental disorders – anxiety-related illnesses, depression, OCD, phobias
-

-
