Where have I been? What is to come of Rawing Meg 2020?

It has been a HOT šŸ”„ minute since I actually have had any time to come on here and write to you all!

For explanation of this, my life has been pretty hectic over this December...

  • I graduated šŸ‘©ā€šŸŽ“ from University with my degree in Health Sciences šŸ“š - that journey was anything but regular or standard, and warrants an entire post (this will come in the new year 🄳)

  • I started working with a business & in a role that aligns with both my academic studies, but also my values and beliefs concerning health and wellbeing. Putting it short - I help people with mental illness and/or addiction issues move from the benefit and back into work by addressing their personal and health unmet needs that are preventing them from working. 100% a hard job, but 150% a rewarding one

  • I traveled across to Melbourne, Australia, for a five šŸ– day holiday & to see Elton John. This was a much needed getaway from all of the hecticness I was feeling at home, and let me re-charge for the final few weeks of work for the 2019 year. Travel always brings with it difficulties with mental health management, and will 100% be another topic I intend to cover

  • CHRISTMAS! šŸŽ„šŸŽ… Despite is just passing and just be a single standard 24-hour day, the rush and madness of this silly season can bring high energy demands and a chocca šŸ« calendar of events and gatherings

They are just four quick but substantial things that have been going on with me - needless to say I have been stretched thin, left exhausted, and perhaps neglecting the care my mental health needs and deserves😪

I would say that I am sorry for being absent, and I am actually not. I am sorry that I did not give an explanation to this, but not the fact I did not post. I want to write and feature topical issues which I feel I can write with the concentration and focus that they require - and this month has no been the case for that to happen. Don't get me wrong, I have experienced many events that have given me great content for here, but little time to write about them. So, what will my next posts be about?

  1. Project 8.5k debrief šŸƒā€ā™€ļøšŸƒšŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø - what raised in total, goodies bought, and presentation of this to the ward

  2. 2019 - the year in review, what the f#*k have I actually done and did I stick to my goals for the year set at the beginning?

  3. 2010s - the decade in review (the really good, horrifically bad, and major changes across these ten years)

  4. 2020 - my thoughts on #newyearsresolutions - what do I have planned and how to avoid diet culture rearing its ugly head in your goals & ambitions for your furture

  5. The bizarre lost feeling you get when finishing undergraduate university study or leaving high school

  6. Managing your mental health needs while traveling - new environment + new food šŸ„—šŸ±+ new people = potential trigger + extra energy required + preparation needed

  7. Taking care of yourself when you are surrounded by those also struggling - be it with a physical or mental health issue/s

As you can see, a lot of content will be coming your way.

Megs is feeling energised, it feeling refreshed, and feeling more ambitious than ever to get mental health awareness out in society and making some changes in the way we perceive & treat mental health, mental wellbeing, and mental illness.

As always; your recommendations, comments, thoughts, advice, & contact are greatly appreciated. This blog is just as much a space for me as it is for you.

Your friend,

Rawing Meg

Ps. You are all amazing for sticking by me throughout this endeavour.

Pps. If you haven't complemented yourself or given credit to the fact you made it to the last days on 2019 and will see the new decade in - this is your bright sign saying you should

xx
