Before reading any of the serious posts on this blog coming up, please read this preface.
I was in my mid-teens when I was diagnosed with the eating disorder Anorexia Nervosa. Now, at 21 years-old, and having been diagnosed with further mental illnesses – depression, OCD, and several anxiety disorders – my life has been through the works but am now in a position to manage my mental illnesses and still participate in daily life happenings
All of the posts you are about to read are raw, real, and a representative of me, my life and experiences. What you think or know may differ from mine, and that okay! There is no one way to tackle mental illness, just as there is no one way for what somebody's recovery will follow.
It is important to note that while all I write is very true to my story, I am in no way a health professional; the words you are about to read are based purely upon my own experience and will most likely differ from the experience of another – perhaps yours or that of your loved one. The intention of this blog is for me to share my journey and experiences, the lessons I’ve learned, and to answer some of the commonly avoided topics/issues of Eating Disorders and beyond. If I raise any issues that you may be concerned about, I strongly encourage you to seek professional advice and guidance. Likewise, if you read something of mine that you do not agree with, send me an email or leave a comment - I would love to hear your opinion or comments!
So welcome, who ever you are and wherever you come from, read on with an open mind and I hope you find some solace in the words in which I write.
Your friend, Rawing Meg xx
